mtn gprs manual settings

If you use a nokia phone, it's easy to set up you phone for the internet via GPRS using the configuration below;

For Nokia 6230, 6230i, 7200

To set-up GPRS on any of these phone models you do the following:
1. Press Menu>Settings>Connectivity>GPRS
2. Select GPRS Connection and select Always online.
The handset will display the confirmation message “Always online enable.”
3. Scroll down to GPRS modem settings> Edit active access point and press SELECT.
4. Select Alias for access point and type the name MTN GPRS then press OK.
The handset will display the confirmation message “Alias saved”
5. Scroll down to GPRS access point and press SELECT.
6. Type web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net and press OK.
The handset will display the confirmation message “Access point changed.”
Process complete

To Visit the Internet
1. Press Menu>Web>Settings> Connection Settings and press Select
2. Scroll down to Edit active web settings and press Select
3. Press Select to change the settings name. Type MTN GPRS and press Ok.
4. Scroll down to home page, type www.google.com and press Ok.
5. Scroll down to Proxies and select Enable.
6. Select Proxy Address and type 10.199.212.2 and enter 8080 for Port.
7. Select Data bearer, scroll down to GPRS and press Select.
8. Scroll down to Bearer Settings and press SELECT
9. Select GPRS access point and type web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
10. Scroll to Authentication type and select Normal
11. Scroll to user name and type web
12. For password type web
13. Select Back, then Back, and Back to get out of Settings
14. To go visit a website scroll to Go to Address and type a web address e.g wap.google.com
